How to Run WhatsApp Ordering for Restaurants on WABA.FLOTA

Published September 4, 2026

Third-party delivery apps take a meaningful cut of every order and put a middleman between you and your customer. WhatsApp ordering — done properly — gives a restaurant a direct channel that costs nothing per order and builds a real repeat-customer relationship instead of an anonymous app-platform one. Here's how to run it on WABA.FLOTA.

Why WhatsApp works for restaurant ordering

Customers already have WhatsApp open; they don't need to download another delivery app just to order from you. And unlike a delivery app, every conversation is a direct line to a repeat customer you can message again later — a delivery platform generally won't let you do that.

Step 1: Put your menu where the AI can quote it

Add your menu to Dashboard → Menu — items, prices, and photos. The AI agent uses this to answer "what do you have" and build an order directly from the conversation, instead of sending a static PDF menu customers have to scroll through.

Step 2: Let the agent take the full order

Configure the prompt so the agent confirms each item, quantity, and any options (spice level, size, add-ons) before finalizing — and repeats the order back before checkout, the way a good phone order-taker would, to avoid mistakes going into the kitchen.

Step 3: Send order status updates automatically

Once an order is placed, automatic status messages (confirmed → preparing → out for delivery) keep customers informed without them having to ask "is it coming?" — this alone significantly cuts the volume of status-check messages a small team has to handle manually during peak hours.

Step 4: Run promotions without an app install

For a weekend special, a new menu item, or a slow-Tuesday promo, Dashboard → Campaigns sends a broadcast to your subscriber list using an approved WhatsApp template. See running broadcast campaigns for the approval and sending process — this is typically far cheaper per customer reached than boosted social posts, and goes straight to people who've already ordered from you before.

Step 5: Handle peak-hour volume without dropping orders

During rush periods, a shared team inbox (Dashboard → Messages) lets multiple staff handle incoming orders and questions simultaneously, with the AI agent absorbing routine "what's on the menu" and "are you open" questions so staff time goes to actually processing orders.

Step 6: Build repeat business with simple follow-ups

A short "how was your order?" message a day after delivery, or a "we miss you" nudge to someone who hasn't ordered in a while, costs nothing to send and consistently brings back a share of customers who'd otherwise have quietly switched to a competitor or a delivery app.

Common questions

Can customers pay directly through the chat, or do I need cash on delivery?
Order tooling can generate a payment link inside the conversation for card/wallet payment, alongside cash-on-delivery as an option — you choose which payment methods to offer.

How is this different from just listing my number on a delivery app?
A delivery app owns the customer relationship and takes a commission on every order; ordering through your own WhatsApp number means the customer relationship (and repeat-order ability) stays entirely yours.

Does this work for multiple branches/locations?
Yes — each location can run its own connected WhatsApp number and menu, or a single number can route by area/branch depending on how you want to structure it.
